Digital Synthesizer

Project Video

Project Description

Our project began with the idea to create waveforms through a Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC), envisioning a fundamental function generator. However, we quickly recognized the inherent similarities to a synthesizer and decided to pivot our focus, embracing the more engaging challenge of synthesizer design. Traditionally, synthesizers employ potentiometers for frequency modulation. Yet, our accumulated experience with ultrasonic sensors throughout the semester inspired us to innovate. We integrated the ultrasonic sensor into our synthesizer, transforming it into an interactive instrument that responds to hand movements. Ultimately, our project evolved into crafting a unique synthesizer—an instrument that not only generates sound but also invites the user to shape it through intuitive, tactile interaction.
